you take the picture you want to use for ID, and you upload to deviantArt Related > deviant ID.
if it doesn't show up as your ID, go to "edit profile" on your profile page, then "user page display". next to "deviant ID" choose the title of the picture you uploaded for your ID i hope that helps!
